Purpose of Pre-Ayurveda program is, –
(1) to prepare the student to learn and understand Ayurveda, rooted in the relevant Bharateeya Shastras and Sanskrit language;
(2) to prepare the student to study Ayurveda authentically from its classical sources and eventually to become a holistic practitioner;
(3) to orient the student to imbibe the values of Indian culture and tradition through the Ayurveda Gurukulam model of education and;
(4) to facilitate informal interaction between the Guru and Shishya as an important component of the teaching-learning process.
Important information :
- “Seven and half years Ayurveda- Programme” means a residential graduation programme of two years of Pre-Ayurveda, four and half years of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery and one year of compulsory rotatory internship and having provision for admission to under graduate course after tenth class through National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Pre-Ayurveda.
- “Ayurveda Gurukulam” means a standalone residential Ayurveda institution or college along with the teaching hospital for total seven and half years Degree Program of Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery along with two years Pre Ayurveda-Program;
- All Ayurveda Gurukulams shall be affiliated to the Central Sanskrit University, Janakpuri, New Delhi.
- The number of such Ayurveda Gurukulams shall be in proportion to the population of the States or Union territory. Administration for up to five-crore population, there shall be an another Ayurveda Gurukulam in the States or Union territory Administration.
- The existing Ayurveda institutions and Ayurveda Gurukulam shall not be allowed to convert vice-versa.
- Admission capacity. – The admission capacity for each Ayurveda Gurukulam shall be fifty seats for every academic session.
- Eligibility criteria for admission. – (a) the candidate shall have passed 10th standard in 10+2 pattern; or in 5+3+3+4 pattern from any recognized Board including Sanskrit board of state or any equivalent recognized board;
- (b) no candidate shall be admitted to this Program unless he has attained the age of fifteen years on or before the 31st December of the year of his admission in the first year of the program.
- National Eligibility-cum-entrance Test Pre-Ayurveda Programme in each academic Syear and shall be conducted by an authority designated by the
- Commission, in order to consider eligible for admission to Pre-Ayurveda Programme, it shall be necessary for a general candidate to obtain minimum marks at fifty percent and at forty percent for the candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste, the Scheduled Tribes, the other Backward classes and candidate with disabilities under the Rights of Person with disabilities Act, 2016 (49 of 2016)
- An all India common merit list of the eligible candidates shall be prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the National Eligibility-cum-entrance Test Pre-Ayurveda Programme and the candidates, within the respective category shall be considered for admission to Pre-Ayurveda Program from the said merit list only.
- Pre-Ayurveda Certificate shall be equivalent to 10+2 Certificate and Pre-Ayurveda qualified candidates shall be eligible for those programs where the eligibility is 10+2 or its equivalent.
- Medium of instruction. – The medium of instruction for the Program shall be Sanskrit or Hindi or English or any recognized Indian regional languages in the 8th schedule to the constitution of India: Provided that, if any Ayurveda Gurukulam is admitting students from different states or international students, the medium of instruction shall be in Sanskrit or English.
- Commencement of first year Pre-Ayurveda First Working
Day of October - facilitate informal interaction between the Guru and Shishya as an important component of the teaching-learning process.
